What do you love about Traverse City?

I love being near the water, the bay, the lakes and the rivers. I love hiking in the northern woods, along the Lake Michigan shore, the dunes. I love that I can ride my bike to just about everything, and that I can drive 30 minutes, put up the tent and camp, and listen to the coyotes at night.

When and where are you the happiest?

In the summer, camping out with my family. We make a little “tent city” on my sister’s 10 acres; we go to the beach, go canoeing, hiking, yard sale-ing and generally get on each other’s nerves. It is pure love.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

I have two very smart, handsome, creative sons named Dylan and Morgan. They are also my heroes.

What is your fondest memory?

Oh, you can’t expect me to have just one!! But here is an example: When my sisters and I were young, we’d walk down to the appliance store in Benzonia and get the empty refrigerator, stove and washing-machine boxes and drag them out to the “cardboard box sliding hill” and spend hours gliding down the grassy hill on these boxes.

What is your favorite yoga posture?

Dandayamana Bibhaktapada Paschimottanasana. It is as much fun to say as it is to do. Ssttrretccchhhhh.
