What do you love about Traverse City?
I love the feel of Traverse City in the summer. When the vacationers come flooding in, there is a feeling of carefree, sun-loving, relaxed and happy energy that they bring with them. Even though we locals are still working and paying our bills, we get the benefit of being surrounded by that free-spirited energy. I find that it nourishes me!
What inspires you?
I am inspired when I am challenged! When I am presented with something that takes me out of my comfort zone, or even causes pangs of fear, it inspires me to do it anyway. I find that stepping around fear to move out of my comfort zone has created great opportunities for growth and self-awareness in my life.
What is your favorite virtue?
My favorite virtue is humility, which I see as the opposite of arrogance. When I am humble, I am most open to learning about others, myself, and life in general. When I am humble, I find that my relationships are easy, I see the miracles in the mundane, and contentment comes easily.
When and where are you the happiest?
I am happiest in nature, specifically in the woods. Being surrounded by trees and nature soothes and feeds my soul!
What is your favorite yoga posture?
One of my long-standing favorite poses is Urdhva Prasarita Eka Padasana, Standing Split. It is nearly impossible for me to be anything but fully present in that pose.
