Policies, Procedures & Promises
ARRIVE EARLY
Aim to arrive 15 minutes before class is scheduled to start; this gives you time to relax, breathe, and settle in. If you are new to our studio please arrive 15 minutes prior to your first class. This will give you an opportunity to express any concerns with your instructor, time to set up for you your class, and an overall better first experience. Out of respect and consideration for fellow students and instructors late arrivals will not be able to enter classes that have already begun.
BE PREPARED
Yen Yoga & Fitness does provide mat rental, but due to limited supply we suggest bringing your own. For safety reasons, each student must have a mat to practice. Other class essentials include a water bottle and comfortable, class appropriate clothing. Certain classes may require shoes, such as, cycling, cardio dance, and interval strength training.
REMOVE YOUR SHOES
The studio stays most hygienic if everyone leaves their shoes (yes, even flip-flops) outside the rooms. And please pay attention where you’re walking barefoot—it is unwritten yoga etiquette to avoid treading on other students’ mats.
RELISH THE QUIET
A yoga room is like a sanctuary; people come here to relax and find peace. Honor this by observing as much quiet as possible: Try not to make distracting sounds (ie, overzealous grunts and groans), and save any chit-chat for after class. Turn off your cell phone. Make a habit of doing this before you step foot into the studio; nothing is more grating then the sound of a ringing cell phone during practice. (And few things are as embarrassing as scrambling to silence your phone in the middle of class!)
CONSIDER HYGIENE
Sweat is good—it’s a sign you’re working hard, and a healthy way to cleanse the body. However, if you’re prone to heavy perspiration, bring a towel to class to mop your brow (so you don’t drip on your neighbor’s mat) and wipe up any excess sweat on or around your mat after class.
AGE APPROPRIATE
Out of consideration for others and to ensure the safety of the student, individuals under the age of 14 will not be admitted into class. Students 14 and older may attend with written guardian approval. We prefer student 14-15 years old attend first with their parent or guardian.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We have an 8-hour cancellation window. Package holders, classes cancelled within the 8 hour window will not be returned to your package. Members, we allow 3 “freebies” a month. Every late cancellation over that will be charged $5 each, on the first of the following calendar month.
Our educated, friendly, and supportive staff is always available to answer any questions you may have. It is our mission to support our community by developing each student’s practice and well-being as a personal journey that emphasizes mind, body, and spirit.
